There’s a new party in town…

Honeyboy is back with a new style of blues band, with surprises and fun at every gig. Honeyboy’s House Party is what the new band will be called.

What’s so special?

Some of the best blues musicians in town will be joining the House Party at each gig.

The band will be 4 pieces with a different fifth piece each gig. Sometimes it will be a harp player, sometimes a sax player, and sometimes another guitarist. You might even see a special vocalist come in and join the party. You never know who’s going to show up!

Honeyboy’s House Party will be new and fresh every time. You might even see some additional “surprised” guests join the party in real time.

The Core Band

Rick Honeyboy Hart – Guitar

Rick has been playing for more than 40 years. He’s played with the Bluescorchers, RockBottom, Nitro’s Blues Machine, The Roger Salloom Band, and for the last 20 years, his own bands. His influences include Ronnie Earl, Anson Funderburgh, and Robben Ford. He’s spent his life learning the difference between good and great music.

John Shinn – Bass

John has played with the best local bands including The Jimmy Griswold Band. John is the musical rock of the House Party. His solid grooves and “never miss a beat” professionalism hold the House Party together.

Harlan Brown – Drums

Harlan has played with all the best local bands including Rocky Ruckman, Jimmy Grisowld and many others. As Harlan describes himself he is p

Michael John – Keyboards

Michael has played in many of the great local bands including Jimmy Griswold and The Bearded Brothers. Michael hails from the New York scene. There, he served hard time with The Hackensack Men & The Trenton Horns, laying down the funkified groove for the horn-driven 10-piece band. He also performed and recorded with bluesman Sam Taylor (former music director for the Apollo), Otis Redding, and the Isley Brothers.

Ken Jones – Mississippi Saxophone

In 2014 Ken got the Blues and picked up the harmonica! Since then he’s been perfecting his craft full-time. He is influenced by Kim Wilson, Rick Estrin, Big Walter Horton, Little Walter, Gary Primich, and Steve Guyger, to name a few.

Other band members to be announced…

Occasional Mystery Guest

This “player to be named later” will be different at each Party. Sometimes it will be a sax player. And sometimes it will be another guitarist or singer… someone new and interesting each gig. The first video below features world class blues singer Shaun Murphy who sang with Little Feat, Bob Seger, Eric Clapton and her own band.

One thing you can be sure of… it will be one of the best players in the area and they will help take The Party to a whole new level.
